The History of Roulette
Roulette was created by accident by a French mathematician called Blaise Pascal in the 1700s. European vs American Roulette
The original roulette wheel is European Roulette. The wheel has 37 pockets in which the ball can land: the number one to 36, which are coloured alternately in red and black, and a single zero pocket which is green. If the ball lands on the zero, the house takes the win.
In American roulette, there are 38 pockets, as there are the numbers one to 36 plus a single zero pocket, and there is also a double zero pocket, which gives the house a slightly bigger edge than that of its European counterpart.
